About the Gargano FamilyChef Rocco Gargano emigrated from Matera, a small town in the region of Basilicata, in Southern Italy. He landed in New York when he was 14 year old. Joining the USA Army at 18 he landed himself at Ft Meade. At 21 year old, he opened his first Pizzeria in Glen Burnie, Maryland. In 1996, Chef Rocco opened the very successful Rocco's Capriccio in Baltimore Little Italy neighborhood.
When the patriarch, Chef Rocco, retired he passed his culinary skills and family recipe secrets on to the next generation of the Gargano family. "Pasta la Vista, Baby!" food truck was launched on the roads of Baltimore and Maryland in July 2015. The success of the first authentic Italian food truck in Baltimore was such that it was quickly followed by "MangiAmore!" in October 2016 and "Wanna Pizza This?" in January 2017. Each truck has its own Italian identity and specialty from housemade pasta to pizza, from antipasto to sandwiches, from salads to zuppas.
The Gargano family has now been in the restaurant and catering business for over 55 years. Recipes from Nona and Nono, Zias and Zios, and Mama and Papa are guaranteed to send your taste buds to Italian heaven. |
